Film Review: Clever Cast Can’t Quite Save Crazy ‘Pain & Gain’
Submitted by BrianTT on April 25, 2013 - 8:49am.CHICAGO – Michael Bay’s “Pain & Gain” tells such a ridiculous story that it has to be true. Based on the infamous case of the Sun Gym Gang, a trio of bodybuilders who committed some unspeakable, bizarre crimes, “Pain & Gain” nearly works through the sheer charisma and talent of its A-list cast.

DVD Review: Fascinating Cast Can’t Save ‘Operation: Endgame’
Submitted by BrianTT on July 29, 2010 - 12:37pm.CHICAGO – As someone who has often gone home with a straight-to-DVD action movie that I hadn’t heard of before entering the video store, I know how easy it is to get drawn into something that looks a little bit left-of-center. “Operation: Endgame” is undeniably unusual but that doesn’t mean it’s any good.
Blu-Ray Review: Comedy Water is Fine in ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’
Submitted by BrianTT on July 5, 2010 - 12:17pm.CHICAGO – The most spoiler-named film since “Snakes on a Plane” delivers exactly what it promises with its goofy title. When you go into something like “Avatar” or “The White Ribbon,” you may not know what to expect, but there’s no surprise when a film calls itself “Hot Tub Time Machine.” It’s not a perfect comedy but it’s a heck of a lot closer than most of its recent genre peers and should satisfy those wanting to take an HD dip.
