CHICAGO – I was doing Portrait photography on the last day of the Chicago Fan Expo (August 18th, 2024), and even in these highly political partisan times – where one person’s hero is another’s villain – each of those five woman photographed and featured should be recognized for never being afraid to speak out and fight for their causes. I couldn’t think of a better way to commemorate the exact 104th anniversary of the passage of the right-to-vote 19th Amendment during Fan Expo Chicago.

CHICAGO – Anime acolytes unite! The Chicago Fan Expo and Asian Pop-Up Cinema (APUC) is presenting a screening/discussion of the Anime classic “Inu-Oh” that will be moderated by Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com, and hosted by APUC Founder/Exec Director Sophia Wong Boccio. CHICAGO – The fan gathering conventions are coming back, and a new one has emerged. The 2022 Fan Expo is the new name for the former Wizard World, which had met in pre-pandemic Chicago for years. The Fan Expo offers the same celebrity meet-and-greets, including Joel McHale (“Star Girl”), Carl Weathers (“Rocky”), Ron Perlman (“Hellboy”), Anthony Daniels (“Star Wars”), Jonathan Frakes (“Star Trek; TNG”) and director Kevin Smith (“Clerks”).
