Here is the synopsis for “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close”:

Adapted from the acclaimed bestseller by Jonathan Safran Foer, “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close” is a story that unfolds from inside the young mind of Oskar Schell. He’s an inventive, 11-year-old New Yorker whose discovery of a key in his deceased father’s belongings sets him off on an urgent search across the city for the lock it will open.

A year after his father died in the World Trade Center on what Oskar calls “The Worst Day,” he is determined to keep his vital connection to the man who playfully cajoled him into confronting his wildest fears.

As Oskar crosses the five New York boroughs in quest of the missing lock – encountering an eclectic assortment of people who are survivors in their own way – he begins to uncover unseen links to the father he misses, the mother who seems so far away from him and the whole noisy, dangerous and discombobulating world around him.

Sep. 11th Story

I Was watching the news before school started, my mom was a subscriber to Dish Network and had news channels for New York. Anyways, I remember eating cereal and watching one the local news stations there I think ABC.

One of the news anchors had said that a plane had crashed into a building but didn’t mention which one until later. They thought it was an accident at the time until the second one came out of nowhere and crashed into the second twin tower. That’s one they mention it was terrorist related.

My aunt was living there at the time in New Jersey, but I had called to make sure she was alright. I didn’t hear from her until a three days later.

9/11 story

I remember waking up to my friends phone call to turn on the news. All day we sat in her apartment watching the events unfold. I will never forget that day and believe we should be reminded daily how vulnerable our country truly is.

What’s your Sept. 11, 2001 story?

My September 11 story is that I am still alive and ticking. I feel lucky that this catastrophe avoided me and realize that I must cherish every moment in life and appreciate the fact that at a moment’s notice it can be all gone.

9/11

At first I thought some idiot ran into a building with a plane and then it happened again. I immediately grabbed my son so he couldn’t got to school and called into work but everyone was already gone from my job downtown. Scariest day of my life…
