Fun is Where the Boys Are! On-Air Film Review of ‘Fire Island’
Rating: 4.5/5.0 |
CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Dan Baker on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on June 2nd, reviewing “Fire Island,” the new film set at that summer destination, with romance at every rave. Happy Pride Month! Streaming on HULU beginning June 3rd.
“Fire Island” is the traditional New York summer Mecca of gay men, women and allies. In this take-off on Jane Austin’s “Pride and Prejudice,” the yearly island visitation ritual is played out by Noah (Joel Kim Booster), Howie (Bowen Yang) and their close fellow travelers, who are house-mothered by Erin (Margaret Cho), a lesbian who owns the summer crash pad. Noah is anxious for shy Howie to hook up, so he can feel free to do the same, but complications arise when a handsome doctor named Charlie (James Scully) has an eye for Howie and Will (Conrad Ricomora) wants more from Noah. Could this be the week that was?
