CHICAGO – It looks like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s biggest smash this year might be the double axe handle he hit on John Cena at Wrestlemania. It’s been revealed that “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” has been pushed back to March of 2013 in order to convert the film into glorious, screen-darkening 3D after test audiences were understandably upset about a lack of 3D muscles.

It probably doesn’t help that “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” was set to open against the second of the big three summer blockbusters — the Marc Webb-directed “The Amazing Spider-man.” And while the Rock is popular and G.I. Joe is also popular, lets face it, Spider-man they ain’t.

It’s new release date is a tentative March 29th, 2013, a week before Wrestlemania 29.

Sensing a gap in the schedule, Universal moved the Mark Wahlberg comedy “Ted” up to the now-vacated spot on June 29, 2012. Stay tuned to HollywoodChicago.com for any more last minute changes to the Summer 2012 movie schedule.
