Video Game Review: ‘MLB 10: The Show’ Wins Sports Game Championship
Submitted by BrianTT on March 15, 2010 - 1:45pmCHICAGO – Like the New York Yankees last season, the Bronx Bombers of the baseball video game world have put together another championship enterprise, a video game remarkable in its depth, bar-setting in its visual presentation, and simply must-own for baseball fans. “MLB 10: The Show” is not quite yet that “perfect baseball game” we all hope will someday come but it’s the closest to it yet.
Video Game Review: ‘Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier’ Missed Opportunity
Submitted by BrianTT on November 19, 2009 - 9:09pmCHICAGO – It would be polite to say that “Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier” is merely an unessential entry in one of the most beloved franchises of the ’00s. It would be more accurate to say that it’s a disappointment, a missed opportunity to create a true sequel to one of the most essential PSP games in the history of the handheld platform, “Daxter”.
Video Game Review: ‘Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2’ Delivers Amazing Action
Submitted by BrianTT on October 15, 2009 - 4:27pmVideo Game Rating: 4.0/5.0 |
CHICAGO – For every “Iron Man” or “The Dark Knight,” there are a half dozen movies like “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” or “Elektra” littering the marketplace. Naturally, those of us well-versed in the world of superhero entertainment consider ourselves lucky if every other product featuring caped men (or women) actually works.
Video Game Review: ‘Madden NFL 10’ Another Quality Release in Legendary Franchise
Submitted by BrianTT on August 31, 2009 - 10:05amCHICAGO – What more can possibly be written about EA’s unbelievably successful line of football games that bear the name of one of the best announcers in the history of the sport? If you haven’t played a “Madden” release by now (the latest “Madden NFL 10” is now available for PS3, XBox 360, PSP, and Wii), then you haven’t really played video games.
Video Game Review: ‘NCAA Football 10’ is Best Sports Game of 2009
Submitted by BrianTT on August 4, 2009 - 11:36amCHICAGO – I didn’t think that I could possibly be more amped up for the start of the college football season. And then I played “NCAA Football 10,” a fantastic sports game that comes closer than any title before at recreating the excitement of any given Saturday and serves as the perfect build-up to the actual season to come.
Video Game Review: Head to the Majors With Fun ‘The Bigs 2’
Submitted by BrianTT on July 25, 2009 - 2:30pmCHICAGO – Would you rather watch the fine detail of a pitcher’s duel (or a gem-for-the-ages like Mark Buerhle’s recent perfect game for the Chicago White Sox) or the fireworks of an event like home run derby? “The Bigs 2” is far more akin to the latter - a display of the “fun” of baseball that plays much more like an arcade experience than a sports simulation and should appeal more to fans of the long ball than the slider.
Video Game Review: ‘Ghostbusters: The Video Game’ Makes Geek Dreams a Reality
Submitted by BrianTT on July 21, 2009 - 7:05amCHICAGO – If I could go back in time and tell the nine-year-old me that there would one day be a video game in which I would stand alongside Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, and Egon Spengler, battling Slimer, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and other supernatural baddies, that kid would have had a permanent smile whenever he thought about what the future would bring.
Video Game Review: ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ a Mix of Fun, Frustration
Submitted by BrianTT on May 13, 2009 - 12:32pmVideo Game Rating: 3.0/5.0 |
CHICAGO – The first hour of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” is a total blast, a great blend of above-average graphics, interesting story elements, and clever fighting moves that hint at an enjoyable gaming experience to come. The hint is never quite fulfilled, as “Wolverine” becomes as repetitive and frustrating as the blockbuster film that inspired it.
Video Game Review: ‘Monsters vs. Aliens’ Will Entertain Fans of Film
Submitted by BrianTT on April 21, 2009 - 3:07pmVideo Game Rating: 3.5/5.0 |
CHICAGO – Even part-time game players have a movie tie-in horror story to share. Show me one blockbuster that produced a quality video game companion and I’ll show you ten that failed to do so. So no one’s more surprised than this writer at how enjoyable Activision’s “Monsters vs. Aliens” is from start and nearly to finish.
Video: Teaser Trailer For ‘Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs’ Game
