Video Game Review: Get Behind the Wheel With ‘Need For Speed: Shift’
Submitted by BrianTT on October 4, 2009 - 7:51pmCHICAGO – Not being a huge fan of car racing games, I was stunned at how addictive and engrossing I found EA’s excellent “Need For Speed: Shift”. A complete left turn from last year’s failure “Undercover,” “Shift” represents the beginning of a new line of games for the “NFS” franchise, one that focuses on authentic racing over its ancestors more arcade style. The only problem for driving fans may be that it’s unclear where the “Shift” line can go from here.
TV Review: CBS’ Generic ‘Three Rivers’ Needs a Creativity Transplant
Submitted by BrianTT on October 4, 2009 - 2:31pmCHICAGO – “Three Rivers” takes its title from the Pittsburgh heart transplant hospital at which it is set but even the dull, “easy listening” name of the show should tell you something about the earnest, drab series debuting tonight on CBS.

Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg Deliver Action, Laughs With Great ‘Zombieland’
Submitted by BrianTT on October 2, 2009 - 3:12pmRating: 4.0/5.0 |
CHICAGO – The horror/comedy “Zombieland” is one of the few 2009 films to honestly deserve the overused phrase “thrill ride.” From the opening shots to the best post-credits tag in years, “Zombieland” attempts nothing but pure fun and completely delivers.

Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse With Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg of ‘Zombieland’
Submitted by BrianTT on October 1, 2009 - 4:46pmCHICAGO – Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg make an amazing comedy/horror duo in “Zombieland,” which is one of the most out-of-left-field surprises of 2009. It’s a great film that has been perfectly captured in the production notes in four words: “‘Midnight Run’ with zombies.”
Blu-Ray Review: Seth Rogen, Anna Faris in Hilarious ‘Observe and Report’
Submitted by BrianTT on October 1, 2009 - 4:13pmCHICAGO – All of you DVD and Blu-Ray buyers who lament the neverending flow of slapstick comedies that basically all feel and look the same owe it to director Jody Hill and star Seth Rogen to rent or buy “Observe and Report,” one of the best comedies of the year to date and one of the most daring movies of the last several years.

TV Review: Promising ‘The Middle’ With Patricia Heaton, Neil Flynn
Submitted by BrianTT on September 30, 2009 - 1:40pmCHICAGO – Just as Kelsey Grammer returns to familiarly snobby territory with “Hank,” his “Back to You” co-star Patricia Heaton returns to the life of the harried matriarch with “The Middle,” but the results are vastly different. Where “Hank” feels like a relic, “The Middle” updates the working mother for a new generation and mostly delivers.
TV Review: Kelsey Grammer Should Know Better Than ‘Hank’
Submitted by BrianTT on September 30, 2009 - 12:52pmCHICAGO – Kelsey Grammer is such a TV veteran, a major part of two of the best sitcoms in the history of the medium in “Cheers” and “Frasier,” that it makes his decision to do something as generic, predictable, and unfunny as ABC’s “Hank” all the more disappointing. You would think he knew better by now.
Blu-Ray Review: Third Season of ‘The Universe’ Sparkles More Than Satisfies
Submitted by BrianTT on September 29, 2009 - 11:15pmCHICAGO – The History Channel has an unfortunate history of sensationalizing history for the sake of entertainment. Consider the promo for the network’s recent special on the Tate/LaBianca murders. It’s not enough that the program recounts the tragic events leading up to the Manson Family’s horrific crimes.
