Via Zoom: Jer Sklar on His First Feature Film ‘Tom of Your Life’
CHICAGO – Jer Sklar has created a one-of-a-kind feature film debut – “Tom of His Life” – the story of a boy who ages four years every hour, living his entire life in one day. The film has a week-long run at Chicago’s Music Box Theatre, with Sklar making an appearance on May 8th, 2021, with a Q&A moderated by Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com (click here for tickets).
Jer Sklar wrote, directed, provided the soundtrack (through a band he’s in, Blackstrap Molasses) and edited the film, in addition to portraying Tom from age 32-104. The story is about the birth of the boy that ages four years every hour (portrayed by different actors up to age 32), and a nurse named Jess (Baize Busan) who recognizes Tom’s fate and kidnaps him from the hospital to provide a semblance of a life cycle in one day. The events of this time period – like life – are not very well planned, and the pair on the run must improvise before Tom gets any older.
