CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Scott Thompson on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on February 18th, 2021, reviewing the new TV series “Young Rock,” Tuesdays on NBC-TV.
“Young Rock” is about media sensation Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, chronicling his early years in three phases, portrayed by three different actors. First phase, as a 12-year-old (Adrian Groulx) with a wrestling Dad from the 1970s/80s named Rocky “Soul Man” Johnson, and the assorted characters he worked with including the Iron Sheik and Andre the Giant. Second, nicknamed as “Dewey” (Bradley Constant), he’s a broke high schooler trying to learn his way in life. And third, as a college footballer (Uli Latukefu) determined to make his way in a new world. This is all framed with a sit-down interview of The Rock in reality (albeit running for president) by the great Randall Park.
