CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Scott Thompson on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on December 29th, 2022, reviewing “Women Talking” a new film by adapter/director Sarah Polley, currently in theaters.

The year is 2010 for this based-on-truth story, as eight women from a closed Mennonite religious order (portrayed by Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley, Judith Ivey and Frances McDormand, among others) debate their existence in a community where it has been proven that men in the order have drugged and raped them and others in the female collective. Through secret meetings and potential voting – aided by a male ally (Ben Whishaw) – the women are deciding what their traditions and canon law means, when those laws allow abuse for half of the population.
