CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com audio film review on “Where the Crawdads Sing,” the highly anticipated adaptation of the huge best selling novel by Della Owens, and featuring Daisy Edgar-Jones, in theater everywhere beginning July 15th.

Jones portrays Catherine “Kya” Clark, an orphaned girl who learned to raise herself in the marshes of North Carolina in the 1950s and ‘60s, earning her the nickname “Marsh Girl.” For reasons never fully explained she is rejected by the townsfolk around the Marsh, except for a kindly black couple named Jumpin’ (Sterling Macer Jr.) and Mabel (Michael Hyatt). As she grows into a clean and desirable woman, a boy named Tate (Taylor John Smith) and the high school star quarterback Chase (Harris Dickinson) vie for her attention. When Chase ends up murdered, the Marsh Girl becomes the prime suspect and is put on trial.
