CHICAGO – Won’t you please come to Chicago. “The Trial of the Chicago 7” opens in theaters September 25, 2020. Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com, reviewed the film during the Eddie Volkman Show (Star 96.7 FM Joliet, Illinois).

The film is a re-enactment of the 1969 Chicago 7 trial, sometimes called the Chicago 8. The federal government, under the later disgraced Attorney General John Mitchell (William Hurt), rounded up all the folks that they targeted as agitators at the Democratic Convention in Chicago, August 1968. This included Abbie Hoffman (Oscar-level performance by Sacha Baron Cohen), Jerry Rubin (Jeremy Strong), Tom Hayden (Eddie Redmayne) and Bobby Seale (Yahya Abdul Mateen II). The film is written and directed by Oscar winner Aaron Sorkin.

The film will open in theaters on Friday, September 25th. 2020 (see local listings for details) and will be available through Netflix on October 16th.
