CHICAGO – Society, or at least certain elements of society, are always looking for scapegoats to hide the sins of themselves and authority. In the so-called “great America” of the 1950s, the scapegoat target was comic books … specifically through a sociological study called “The Seduction of the Innocent.” City Lit Theater Company, in part two of a trilogy on comic culture by Mark Pracht, presents “The Innocence of Seduction … now through October 8th, 2023. Celebrating the Farce of July! On-Air Review of ‘Kajillionaire’

CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Scott Thompson on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on September 24th, 2020, reviewing the new live action film “Kajillionaire,” a new film by quirky writer/director Miranda July.
The film features an unrecognizable Evan Rachel Wood as Old Dolio, daughter of street hustlers Robert and Theresa (Richard Jenkins and Debra Winter). The trio live hand to mouth by essentially doing small con jobs. When a stranger named Melanie (Gina Rodriguez) comes into their lives, the dynamic of the street crew is never the same. This is a meditation on the philosophy of relationships, parent-to-child and friend-to-friend, and what those relationships mean when survival is the main goal. In theaters on September 25th, and Video-On-Demand October 16th.
