CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Scott Thompson on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on July 23rd, 2020, reviewing the new Video-On-Demand film “The Rental” and the infamous 2019 film, “Cats” (Digital & DVD).

“The Rental” is the directorial debut of Dave Franco, and is co-written by him and Chicago filmmaker Joe Swanberg. It takes a modern situation – an online air-b-n-b style beach home rental – and twists it into the nostalgia of past horror films like “The Shining,” “Paranormal Activity” and “Friday the 13th.” It features Franco’s wife Alison Brie (“Community”), Dan Stevens (live action “Beauty and the Beast” ), Jeremy Allen White, Sheila Vand and Toby Huss. It was made available on VOD and limited theatrical release on July 24th.
