CHICAGO – In a Covid-free world no doubt this list would be a TOP 20 or 25 … in non-pandemic times, I photographed approximately 150 celebrities per year. In 2020, there were only two, before the global pandemic basically put my career – like that of so many others – into a medically induced coma.
TV Review: The CW’s ‘Arrow’ Misses Bullseye But Hits Target
Submitted by BrianTT on October 10, 2012 - 9:28amCHICAGO – Can The CW survive on genre product alone? They’ve given up entirely on comedy, their reality shows produce immeasurably small ratings, and most of their traditional dramas are either past their prime (“Gossip Girl”) or struggling to find an audience (“Hart of Dixie”).
Film Review: ‘Monte Carlo’ is Cut Above Young-Women-Abroad Films
Submitted by PatrickMcD on July 1, 2011 - 6:46pmCHICAGO – Nothing like a summer surprise at the movies to make the season a little more tolerable. Selena Gomez and the ubiquitous Leighton Meester take a sumptuous trip and brings us along in “Monte Carlo.”
Blu-Ray Review: ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ Remake Fails Completely
Submitted by BrianTT on October 7, 2010 - 3:59pmCHICAGO – The irony of Samuel Bayer’s remake of the Wes Craven classic, “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” is that most viewers will have more trouble staying awake than combatting actual fear. The saddest thing about this failed effort is that it could tarnish the reputation of Wes Craven’s brilliant original for a new generation. Ignore the new film. Just go rent the original.
‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ Remake Plays Like a Bad Dream
Submitted by BrianTT on April 30, 2010 - 2:59pmCHICAGO – Samuel Bayer’s remake of Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street” may be about repressed memories coming back in horrific ways, but it ironically ends up one of the least memorable films of 2010 to date. Not as abrasive as the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” remakes and not as dumb as “The Amityville Horror,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street” is merely forgettable; something never said about the influential original.

DVD Review: Guilty Pleasure ‘Harper’s Island’ Could Become Cult Hit
Submitted by BrianTT on September 9, 2009 - 2:26pmCHICAGO – I’m still a little miffed that the “Harper’s Island” experiment didn’t work out for CBS. The show was far from perfect, but I still like the idea of a limited series with a predetermined beginning, middle, and end. Sadly, no one tuned in to watch “Harper’s Island” on CBS but the guilty pleasure could have a second life on DVD.
TV Review: ‘Harper’s Island’ Has Great Hook But Lackluster Execution
Submitted by BrianTT on April 9, 2009 - 9:09amTelevision Rating: 2.5/5.0 |
CHICAGO – I’ve been looking forward to “Harper’s Island” for months. Last summer, CBS sent out a brief preview with some actors who would eventually be recast (including Bill Pullman) that laid out the general idea of this modern take on Agatha Christie’s “Ten Little Indians”. The concept of a 13-week mystery featuring beautiful people getting whacked week to week was definitely intriguing. Now that I’ve seen the premiere, the bubble has burst.
Liam Neeson Elevates Above-Average Action Movie ‘Taken’
Submitted by BrianTT on January 30, 2009 - 8:25amCHICAGO – Bringing the same screen presence and gravity that he has to more serious roles like those in “Schindler’s List” and “Kinsey,” Liam Neeson turns the relatively generic “Taken” into an above-average action movie that should prove a surprising alternative for movie goers looking for a break from Super Bowl coverage this weekend.
