Exclusive Photo: Author Salman Rushdie for New Book ‘Quichotte’

CHICAGO – It’s a major event when an author the magnitude of Salman Rushdie releases a new novel, and “Quichotte” is now on the shelves. The story was inspired by Don Quixote, and set in current times. Joe Arce took an Exclusive Photo of Rushdie at an event sponsored by Anderson’s Bookshop at North Central College in Naperville (Illinois).

CHICAGO – The venue called Space is one of the finer rooms in Chicagoland – specifically Evanston, Illinois – and one of the finer local bands will be making an appearance on Wednesday, September 4th. whitewolfsonicprincess (wwsp) will be playing tunes off their third album, “The Alternate Boot,” released in February of this year, and selections from their entire catalog.

CHICAGO – The R&B singer/songwriter Khalid burst onto the music scene the same day he graduated from high school. His debut single “Location” was released in July of 2016 and peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart … and was later certified quadruple platinum. His debut studio album, “American Teen,” was released on March 3rd, 2017. Since then he has achieved several top ten hits, including the song “Young Dumb and Broke,” a number one album and five Grammy nominations.

BRIDGEVIEW, ILL. - Chicago Open Air is an annual concert held in Bridgeview, Illinois, that features several rock and metal acts. After not happening in 2018, the festival returned for weekend of rock at SeetGeek Stadium. 2019 headliners included System of a Down, Tool, Ghost and The Cult. Today is a Podtalk with director Bing Liu, who was the filmmaker behind a Best Documentary Feature nominee, “Minding the Gap.” The film seems to be a nostalgic profile of Liu’s youth in Rockford, Illinois, as he goes back to his hometown to explore the skateboarding culture that kept him balanced while growing up in a difficult home environment. What he found out about himself was an organic reveal in the film, both shocking and cathartic.
