Blu-ray Review: Scream Factory Releases Hammer’s ‘The Vampire Lovers’
Submitted by BrianTT on May 7, 2013 - 8:42pmCHICAGO – Scream Factory, the horror branch of Shout Factory, continues to impress with their releases of arguably lesser-known horror films, including some ’70s and ’80s classics like the upcoming “The Burning,” “The Town That Dreaded Sundown,” “Lifeforce,” and “The Howling.” All four of those will be covered here. All four of those are better than “The Vampire Lovers,” a fun addition for Hammer Films fans but a movie that’s still not really all that good.
Film Review: Daniel Radcliffe Stars in Chilling ‘The Woman in Black’
Submitted by BrianTT on February 2, 2012 - 8:58pmCHICAGO – The most important element to the opening of “The Woman in Black” is the Hammer Films logo that caused the legendary Roger Ebert to applaud when it appeared in the screening room here in Chicago. This is a Hammer Film through and through complete with unbelievable character action, loud sound effects, extreme shock scares, and other B-movie manipulations.
