CHICAGO – Theatrical satires of the Star Wars Universe are like the number of TV series the universe has wrought … too many to figure out if anything is worthwhile. But “Trade Federation” (subtitled “Or Let’s Explore Globalization Through the Star Wars Prequels”), presented by Otherworld Theatre in Wrigleyville Chicago, gets it right on.

CHICAGO – If you’ve ever worked retail or in the service industry, you’re aware of the mental and physical state lovingly known as “Cruise Control”. That’s when the crippling monotony of everyday life forces our body into a sort of energy-saver setting that is meant to keep us from having psychotic mental breaks on a semi-regular basis. A sort-of zombie mode, if you will.

CHICAGO – The man that practically invented the modern Zombie film genre had met his own demise. Director George A. Romero passed away on July 16th, 2017, in Los Angeles. He was 77. Romero launched a whole new wave of horror with “Night of the Living Dead” in 1968, and put Pittsburgh (PA) on the film location map.
Video Game Review: ‘Undead Nightmare’ For ‘Red Dead Redemption’ Rocks
Submitted by BrianTT on November 4, 2010 - 4:23pmCHICAGO – “No one deserves to have their blood drunk.” It’s possible that truer words have never been spoken in a video game. This tongue-in-cheek bit of dialogue spoils only one of about a hundred times you’ll smile, chuckle, or straight-out LOL to the brilliant DLC addition to “Red Dead Redemption” known as “Undead Nightmare.” For what does every great game need? Zombies.
Blu-Ray Review: Great Release For ‘George A. Romero’s Survival of the Dead’
Submitted by BrianTT on September 2, 2010 - 10:49amCHICAGO – It pains me to point out the flaws of “George A. Romero’s Survival of the Dead.” Two of the most influential movies in my entire life are “Night of the Living Dead” and “Dawn of the Dead” and I could write a book on the importance of one of the most essential horror directors of all time. But, despite a fantastic Blu-ray release, “Survival of the Dead” disappoints.
Blu-Ray Review: ‘The Crazies’ Updates Classic For a New Generation
Submitted by BrianTT on July 6, 2010 - 12:30pmCHICAGO – Horror remakes almost always fall flat as too many filmmakers fail to recapture the magic of the original but there seems to be something about George A. Romero’s films that defies that rule. Take for example Breck Eisner’s take on “The Crazies,” a shockingly good genre entry that should find a loyal cult following on Blu-ray and DVD.
Blu-Ray Review: Check Out Original ‘The Crazies’ Before Remake
Submitted by BrianTT on February 23, 2010 - 11:22amCHICAGO – Before you go and check out Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell in Breck Eisner’s remake of George A. Romero’s “The Crazies” this weekend, pick up the original on Blu-ray from the great indie horror house Blue Underground. “The Crazies” is a fantastic example of low budget horror filmmaking and ’70s paranoia from one of the genre’s best directors.
Patrons Transformed Into Zombies at Chicago ‘Diary of the Dead’ Screening
Submitted by HollywoodChicago.com on February 15, 2008 - 5:38pmCHICAGO – At the Chicago screening on Thursday for “Diary of the Dead” from horror master George A. Romero, willing patrons were transformed into zombies by a makeup and body paint artist. The Chicago publicist for the film has provided us with photos of the transformations.
