Blu-Ray Round-Up

TV on Blu-ray Round-Up: ‘The Borgias,’ ‘Archer,’ ‘Jersey Shore’

The Borgias

CHICAGO – A number of recent TV seasons hit DVD and Blu-ray right after Christmas, hoping to get a share of that gift card balance burning a hole in your wallet. If you have any left, we thought you might want to know the details so you can plan your assault of the local Best Buy or fill your Amazon cart. This is a Round-up feature that serves mostly as information, letting you know the synopsis, tech specs, special features, etc., but if we had to pick favorites, FX’s “Archer” rules. It’s the best of the bunch, but, honestly, all four should satisfy fans (even if “The Borgias” is annoyingly light on special features). Yes, even “Jersey Shore.”

Blu-Ray Round-Up: ‘Amelie,’ ‘Chocolat,’ ‘Brazil,’ ‘Wake Wood,’ More

Brazil

CHICAGO – Hot on the heels of the return of the DVD Round-Up, we’re back with its fraternal twin, the Blu-Ray Round-Up, a collection of recently-released HD titles that could easily go ignored while you deal with the heat wave blanketing the country. Get out to the store. Pick one of these up. Come back to your A/C. Enjoy.

Blu-Ray Round-Up: ‘48 Hrs.,’ ‘Daughters of Darkness,’ ‘Ice Road Truckers,’ More

48 Hours

CHICAGO – It’s been dormant for awhile but the Blu-Ray Round-Up is back (and its brother, the DVD Round-Up, returns later this week) to inform you of a few titles that could otherwise slip through unnoticed if not for the public service of HollywoodChicago.com. Straight-to-video horror movies, a legendary musical, reality TV, softcore porn, and a genre-defining buddy comedy — everyone is welcome at the Round-Up.

Blu-Ray Round-Up: ‘Wallander,’ ‘Metalocalypse,’ ‘Maniac,’ ‘The Dry Land’

Maniac

CHICAGO – What on Earth do metal rock stars, a British detective, a 30-year-old slasher flick, and a movie starring a kid from “That ’70s Show” have in common? Nothing but release dates that shuffle them into the world-famous Round-Up, our feature that captures synopsis, cast & crew, tech details, and special features for discerning buyers. Pick your favorite.

Blu-Ray Round-Up: ‘Three Kings,’ ‘Altitude,’ ‘Sex and Lucia’

Three Kings

CHICAGO – Several major summer 2010 films have been released on Blu-ray recently which could have easily allowed minor titles to go unnoticed if not for HollywoodChicago.com’s beloved Blu-Ray Round-Up. Here are a few of the smaller October HD releases worth a look.

Blu-Ray Round-Up: ‘American Beauty,’ ‘Boogie Woogie,’ ‘Bored to Death,’ More

Boogie Woogie

CHICAGO – The Blu-Ray Round-Up has looked around the office after the dust has settled on the major September HD releases and realized that there are a few remaining titles worthy of a mention. Before frost warnings, Halloween decorations, and planning for Thanksgiving, pick up one of these five titles. You won’t regret it.
