‘Avatar,’ ‘The Hurt Locker’ Lead Academy Award Nominations

CHICAGO – The nominees for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards were announced this morning, February 2nd, 2010 and “Avatar” and “The Hurt Locker” led the way with nine nominations each, closely followed by fellow Best Picture nominees “Inglourious Basterds,” “Up in the Air,” and “Precious”.

CHICAGO – The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards were held tonight, January 17th, 2010 and big winners included Mo’Nique, Meryl Streep, Christoph Waltz, James Cameron, Sandra Bullock, Robert Downey Jr., Jeff Bridges, Michael C. Hall, Juliana Margulies, Toni Collette, John Lithgow, Drew Barrymore, Kevin Bacon, Alec Baldwin, and Chloe Sevigny.

CHICAGO – A movie as gigantic as James Cameron’s “Avatar” is bound to have a video game tie-in to go with it and one would assume that such a detailed and complex fantasy world as that created in the film threatening to be the highest grossing of all time would make for a wonderful virtual playground. One would be mostly correct in that “James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game” is one of the most beautiful in recent months. The gameplay is another story.

‘Up in the Air,’ ‘Nine,’ ‘Glee’ Lead 2009 Golden Globe Nominations

CHICAGO – The nominees for the the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards were revealed today and the George Clooney dramedy “Up in the Air” and the Daniel Day-Lewis musical “Nine” led the way in the film categories with six and five nominations, respectively, while acclaimed new show “Glee” led the way in the television category with four nominations.
