CHICAGO – On the heels of the “Twilight” sequel news that “New Moon” has been renamedThe Twilight Saga’s New Moon” and a new logo for the film has been released, we now have confirmed news from Summit Entertainment of a June 30, 2010 release date for the “Eclipse” threequel, which will be named “The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse”.

EW.com reports that the “The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse” film will not be directed by “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon” director Chris Weitz. “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon” is slated to open on Nov. 20, 2009. The planned threequel release is just seven months after the sequel.

While no director for the threequel has currently been named, EW.com citing a source close to the production says “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon” will be in post-production while “The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse” will be filming and Weitz will not be able to helm both.

Weitz took the director’s seat of “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon” from “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke. The third piece of news that has now surfaced for “The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse” is its plot description, which follows.

As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger.

In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf.

With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death.

The Chris Weitz-directed sequel “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon” will star Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene and perhaps Lucy Hale, AnnaLynne McCord and Dakota Fanning (who were the subject of recent casting rumors). The new logo for “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon” can be found below.

“Twilight,” which stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Ashley Greene and Taylor Lautner from director Catherine Hardwicke, has grossed $189 million in the U.S. and $363 million total worldwide. This quickly put “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon” into production and has spawned many casting rumors. Other books in the Stephenie Meyer series include “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn”.

Answering driector issue

Hey all, I looked into this a bit and it appears that New Moon filming was started towards the end of Twilight, Eclipse has probably started filming as rumours had PREP filming being done towards the end of New moon, according to further rumours even Breaking Dawn has been scripted for filming and hopefully filming will begin towards the end of Eclipse… Imagine one director trying to film the last scenes of one film and starting to film scenes for its followup at the same time…. maybe they want different directors so that each films Director is devoting all his time to that one film rather than trying to do 2 at the same time. I hope the rumours of Breaking Dawn and Eclipse being filmed are true, Although I like the first film and even brought both versions of the DVD I still prefer the book, but having the film helps my imagination see the Characters while I read which is cool.
