CHICAGOLucy Hale, the star of The CW’s “Privileged,” revealed this week that she too has auditioned for a role in the upcoming sequel to Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight,” the highly anticipated “New Moon,” to be directed by Chris Weitz and going into production soon.

The onslaught of casting and audition rumors for “New Moon” have led us from rumors that Taylor Lautner might be replaced to a possible audtion for Vanessa Hudgens to stories about Dakota Fanning and now Lucy Hale.

Twist Magazine broke the scoop after speaking to Hale on the phone and hearing straight from the TV star that she has officially auditioned for the role of Jane in “New Moon”.

Hale told Twist: “Well, I did read [for the role of Jane]. We had some talks about it. But I think they just offered it to Dakota Fanning – the role I was interested in – which is great. I’m a huge fan of her! So, I think she’ll probably take that. And I mean, as of right now, I’m not sure if it’s going to work out. But I’m definitely still going to see it!”

Twist also asked Hale if she would take any part in “New Moon” – not just the role of Jane – to which the young actress said: “I’d take any role! Leah Clearwater, but I think there’s already talks with somebody else. I think they’ve already offered it to someone. I mean, we’ll see. If not, it’s all good.”

When it was pointed out that Vanessa Hudgens of “High School Musical” is the starlet in question that was considered for Leah, Hale said: “Right, right, right! Yeah, I wasn’t sure if that was true or not, but she’d be great for it!”

“Twilight,” which stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Ashley Greene and Taylor Lautner from director Catherine Hardwicke, has grossed $178 million domestically. This has put the “New Moon” sequel into production immediately and has spawned a series of casting rumors. Other books in the Stephenie Meyer series include “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn”.

I agree with casting someone

I agree with casting someone like Shauna or Shannon. Tinsel is NOT native though. The Native film community is small. Everyone knows she’s been faking it to get roles. And it’s working from the looks of it.

I agree Leah should be

I agree Leah should be played by a native and I can think of a native actress who would be perfect for the part, Chrystal Lightning. She is a wonderful actress and would be perfect for the part.

she's just being nice

Aw, she’s just being nice about vanessa being perfect for the role of Leah in Eclipse… ha ha ha… vanessa is NOT! She shouldn’t be casted at all.

Leah is NATIVE AMERICAN

True. She’s not perfect for Leah. Is she dreaming!? Can she see she has light skin? LArge walnut eyes? Leah is a native american, Tinsel Korey is perfect.

Yeah, about as perfect as

Yeah, about as perfect as Vanessa Hudgens - BOTH are hideous Caucasoid beasts.

leah is not a gringa(white girl) SHE IS NATIVE AMERICAN

I don’t think vannessa anne hugdens should be even thought to play leah and Lucy is better than vanessa but for real, get a girl who is native american or at least a girl who can really pass as one.

Lucy Hale would be GREAT as

Lucy Hale would be GREAT as Jane. She would be better than Dakota Fanning. Since Jane has dark brown almost black hair she would be good for Jane, but Dakota Fanning has blonde hair so it wouldn’t work out well! I hope that Dakota doesn’t accept the role, but I do hope that Lucy gets the role. Good Luck!

Jodelle Ferland for Jane

I don’t see anything wrong with either of the actressess but…I honestly think people will go “Oh look it’s Dakota Fanning!” and not notice Jane is kinda…evil/scary. I think that Jodelle Ferland should be Jane because we know she has played scary child before and done very well. But this is only my opinion and I am okay with either of these actresses I just think they are alittle too well known and all so yeah I really hope Jodelle get’s the role (if she even want’s it or whatever.)
