HOLLYWOOD – In an emotional and sweeping night at the 95th Oscars, “Everything Everywhere All at Once” was everything and everywhere. The film won Best Picture, Best Actress (Michelle Yeoh), Best Supporting Actor/Actress (Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis) and Best Directors and Original Screenplay for Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (The Daniels).

The highlights were the speeches, especially Quan and Curtis. Quan was a forgotten child actor who believed in a comeback and achieved it to the highest platform, and his emotional speech seemingly captured all of it. Jamie Lee Curtis, daughter of Hollywood legends Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, acknowledged that parentage in a memorable “we won the Oscars” speech. In all, after the year of the infamous “slap,” the Oscars came off … as host Jimmy Kimmel quipped … “without a hitch, and without Hitch.”

After the seven wins of “Everything Everywhere …,” the second biggest honoree of the night was Netflix’s epic “All Quiet on the Western Front.” The World War One-set drama took home Best International Feature Film, Best Cinematography and Best Score (besting sentimental favorite John Williams). Another notable award was Sarah Polley for her Best Adapted Screenplay of “Women Talking.”

The only slap heard this Oscar year was resounding applause for “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”
