Macbeth (Denzel Washington) is an ambitious Scottish warrior who seeks the crown of King Duncan (Brendan Gleeson), which is foretold by three witches he meets after a battle. His scheming wife Lady Macbeth (Frances McDormand) convinces him to kill Duncan, and take his rightful place. His kingdom is plagued by guilt and madness, which eventually affects Lady Macbeth, who tries to wash off a damned “spot” on her own soul.

“The Tragedy of Macbeth” is in select theaters now and streaming on Apple TV Plus. Featuring Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand, Corey Hawkins, Harry Melling and Brendan Gleeson. Adapted and directed by Joel Coen. Rated “R”
