The series is the story of Kaepernick, the mercurial ex-quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, who famously kneeled during the National Anthem before the games to protest law enforcement killings and violence against black Americans. The six episode arc – created by Kaepernick and Ava DuVernay of “Selma” – chronicles his high school years, where he was a three sport man … football, basketball and baseball … and excelled in each, while carrying a 4.0 GPA. His dream is to be a quarterback, even though he’s considered a better baseball pitcher. But he is determined, and his story is told through that dream.
