FILM OF THE DAY: “The Worst Person in the World” – Ah, those crazy days of thirtysomething. That age practitioner in question is Julie (Renate Reinsve, Best Actress Award at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival), who is constantly restless and is in a long term relationship with Askel (Herbert Nordrum). When she meets Elvind (Anders Danielson Lie) there are sparks, but since they’re both in other relationships they agree not to consummate, yet Julie’s restless spirit gives her away. Director Joachim Trier (“Louder Than Bombs”) creates an elegy to a certain time of life, represented by one of them trying to negotiate relationships. This is quirky, familiar and ironic all at the same time, and Renate Reinsve carries the film to an essential point of redemption. Click WORST PERSON for more information.
