High School Senior Ruby (Emilia Jones) is the only person who can hear in an all-deaf family … which is designated as a Child of Deaf Adults or CODA. She lives with, and acts, as a hearing liaison for father Frank (Troy Kotsur), mother Jackie (Oscar winner Marlee Matlin) and brother Leo (Daniel Durant). Ironically, Ruby is blessed with a high level singing voice, and wants to pursue it through college, but the family wants her to stay with their fishing business. There begins a natural-but-guilty pushback from Ruby, and it starts to affect all the family’s dynamics.

CODA” is in theaters and streaming on Apple TV+ beginning August 13th. Featuring Emilia Jones, Marlee Matlin, Troy Kotsur, Daniel Durant, Eugenio Derbez. Written and directed by Sian Heder. Rated “PG-13”
