I Am Woman As you would guess, this film is about Helen Reddy, and the journey to her signature song. Fellow Australian Tilda Cobham-Hervey distinctly portrays Reddy, who won a contest to record a record in the U.S. in the 1960s … only to travel here with her daughter and find out the prize didn’t exist. She stayed and eventually met agent and future husband Jeff Wald (Evan Peters) who took her on a rocky path to her 1970s hit making period. 3.5/5 stars.

Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President The improbable rise of a peanut farmer from Plains, Georgia, to the White House is told through the filter of his love for rock and country music, especially the Allman Brothers and Willie Nelson. Carter represented a generational shift at the time, even though he was a World War II veteran and established politician, as he lured younger people into his campaign for president in 1976 by holding a series of fundraisers with the Allmans to raise money. Salt Peanuts, salt peanuts! 4/5 stars.

“I Am Woman” is available through Video-On-Demand and limited actual theaters. See local and online listings. Featuring Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Danielle Macdonald, Evan Peters and Chris Parnell. Written by Emma Jensen. Directed by Unjoo Moon. Not Rated. “Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President” is available through virtual and actual theaters. Written by Bill Flanagan. Directed by Mary Wharton.
