CHICAGO – In collaboration with Chicago’s Asian Pop-Up Cinema (APUC), the Taiwanese American Chamber of Commerce is presenting – supported by The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) – “@Home with Taiwan Cinema: Love & Hope.” The five film series … streaming online for FREE … will begin on September 11th, 2020, and run through December. The five films that represent the theme of Love & Hope through the lens of Taiwanese filmmakers include the first film, “My Egg Boy” (director Fu Tien-yu), followed by “Pakeriran” (Lekal Sumi Cilangasan), “Isvara, The Art and Life of Yu-Yu Lang” (Fu Chang-Fen), “Go! Crazy Gangsters” (Chang Chin-feng) AND “Rock Me to the Moon” (Chia-Chun Huang). “My Egg Boy” will also have a recording of an interview with the director from the sixth season of the Asian Pop-Up Cinema.

Chicago’s Asian Pop-Up Cinema – curated by veteran film programmer Sophia Wong Boccio – is collaborating with TECO and The Taiwanese American Chamber of Commerce (TACCGC), who is presenting the series. George Wu, the Chairman of TACCGC, expressed his appreciation. “Thanks to TECO in Chicago’s generous support, we are pleased to provide … for the viewing pleasure of the American public … a visual delight highlighting Taiwanese culture.”

Director General Eric Huang of TECO received his Master’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Chicago. He has had a diplomatic career of more than 20 years, including stints in Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign affairs, and served two tours respectively in Singapore and Canada before coming to Chicago as head of Taiwan’s mission to the U.S. Midwest.
