CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Scott Thompson on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on July 16th, 2020, reviewing the new HULU channel original film, “Palm Springs.”

HollywoodChicago.com Oscarman rating: 3.5/5.0
Rating: 3.5/5.0

“Palm Springs” is similar to the plot of 1993’s “Groundhog Day,” except on steroids. Andy Samberg, working from a screenplay by Andy Siara and directed – in his debut – by Max Barbakow, is a a wedding guest who acts stranger than most people at a reception. It turns out during one day in the past, he had gone into a cave that contained a time loop, forcing him to replay the same wedding day over and over. The Maid of Honor Sarah (Cristin Miloti) follows him into the cave on one of those days, and gets caught in the same loop. From there, they have to figure it out.

“Palm Springs” is available on the HULU streaming platform. Featuring Andy Samberg, Cristin Miloti, J.K. Simmons, Peter Gallagher, Tyler Hoechlin and June Squibb. Written by Andy Siara. Directed by Max Barbakow. Rated “R”
