CHICAGO – That’s a wrap! The Chicago 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP) goes into its final stage for 2018 with the Premiere Screenings of the short films – created in 48 hours by over 60 production teams – at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago on July 29th and 30th, with the “Best of” screening and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, August 3rd. Producer Jerry Vasilatos oversaw judging and the 48HFP itself for the fourth straight year, in its 14th edition in Chicago. For film line-ups and ticket information, click here.

The 48 Hour Film Project began in 2001 with the first competition in Washington, D.C., and was founded by the current Executive Producers, Mark Ruppert and Liz Langston. It has grown exponentially from there, with Chicago joining the mix in 2005. The competition includes cities from all over the United States and the world, culminating in “Filmapalooza,” where winners from each city will compete against each other. Last year’s Chicago 48HFP winner, “Hammersmith: Hurdle of Dreams” by Kalopsia Films, was awarded a spot at the Short Film Corner at the 2018 Cannes International Film Festival at this year’s Paris Filmapalooza.

In the following Podtalk with Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com, Producer Jerry Vasilatos of the Chicago 48 Hour Film Project talks about the upcoming screenings, audience participation and stories about the finish line of 48HFP.
