CHICAGO – It’s a Happy Birthday for Joe Manganiello. The “True Blood” hunk was born on December 28th in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and has a red-hot career after co-starring last year in “Magic Mike,” with Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey. Manganiello was in Chicago recently meeting fans and signing his new book.

Best known for portraying hot werewolf Alcide Herveaux in the HBO series “True Blood,” Manganiello has worked his way up the show business ladder after starting out at the famed Carnegie Mellon School of Drama. After landing a role in the Tobey Maguire “Spider-Man” in 2000, he went on to recurring roles on TV in “How I Met Your Mother” and “One Tree Hill.” He is slated to star opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in the upcoming 2014 release, “Sabotage.”

Joe Manganiello was at the Old Orchard Mall Barnes & Noble in Skokie, Illinois, earlier this month to promote his new book “Evolution: The Cutting Edge Guide to Breaking Down Mental Walls and Building the Body You’ve Always Wanted.”
