CHICAGO – Black Perspectives Night is in its 17th year at the Chicago International Film Festival, and the 2013 event featured the new film, “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete,” starring Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson and directed by George Tillman Jr., a filmmaker based in Chicago. The festivities took place on the second day of the Festival, Friday October 11th.

The Red Carpet featured Tillman, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn and singer/actress Jennifer Hudson, who won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for “Dreamgirls” (2006). “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete” is George Tillman Jr.’s 11th feature film, after popular favorites like “Soul Food” (1997), “Barbershop” (2002) and “Nothing Like the Holidays” (2008).
