Daryl Hannah spoke on environmental implications of the Keystone Pipeline.

CHICAGO – Daryl Hannah is a passionate activist. The actress and environmentalist is spreading the word regarding the dangers of the Keystone Pipeline, among other hot topics at the recent Health Freedom Expo in Chicagoland. She also has a new movie in limited release opening on July 12th entitled “The Hot Flashes.”

The actress was born in Chicago, attending the local Francis W. Parker School. She made her 1978 film debut in the Brian De Palma horror movie, “The Fury,” which was filmed in Chicago. After appearing in the classic sci-fi movie, “Blade Runner” (1982), she took off as a mermaid-out-of-water in “Splash” (1984). That began a procession of hit movies throughout the 1980s and ‘90s including “Roxanne” (1987), Wall Street (1987), “Steel Magnolias” (1989) and “The Little Rascals” (1994). Most recently, she’s appeared in the British horror film, “Eldorado” (2012), and is featured in the 2013 film “The Hot Flashes,” opening in limited release on Friday, July 12th.

Hannah is also well known for her environmental and political activism. She has been arrested at several demonstrations, protesting against the closing of Los Angeles urban gardens, the issue of West Virginia mountaintop removal and the Keystone Pipeline. At the Health Freedom Expo, she spoke without notes for 45 minutes on the health and environmental implications of the politically controversial Keystone Pipeline.
