CHICAGO – In the latest HollywoodChicago.com (Massive!) The two Columbia College film alums behind “Love Stalker” return to Chicago from Sept. 7 to Sept. 13, 2012 to celebrate the Portage Theater’s victory over the Tabernacle Church’s failed takeover of the property. Mount Prospect’s Matt Glasson, who works as a film editor in New York for Comedy Central, joined fellow Columbia alum and St. Louis filmmaker Bowls MacLean to make their film “Love Stalker” based on their own personal experiences on the dating scene.

The film screened at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, but the rom-com’s funny story about one man’s sexual exploits inadvertently became the target of two members from Albany Park’s Tabernacle Church. After seeing some racy “Love Stalker” scenes, they began to trash the theater’s name in the community for showing “pornography” as a means to bolster their own image and increase their chances of purchasing the building. The church failed.

“Love Stalker” stars Matt Glasson, Rachel Chapman, Darek Russell, Laura Baron, Jack Baxter, Robert Nolan Clark, Rachel Fenton, Ashleigh Gill, Jackie Manker, Elizabeth Scaperoth, Eric Warrington, Kimi Weber, Ben Ritchie and Phil Anzelmo from writers and directors Matt Glasson and Bowls MacLean.

Here is the synopsis for “Love Stalker”:

“Love Stalker” is the story of a 30-something, bar-hopping player named Pete (writer and director Matt Glasson) who lives to “play the game” and bed as many women as possible to reach his “golden number”.

Things change for him once he meets Stephanie (Rachel Chapman) – a Web-savvy relationship blogger – and the two begin to get romantic. However, when she discovers the extent of his player ways, she ends the relationship. The break up drives Pete to stalker-like lengths in his romantic comedy-inspired efforts to win her back.
