CHICAGO – HollywoodChicago.com proudly presents “Patang” (The Kite) at Facets Cinematheque! In this extra-special edition of the HollywoodChicago.com Hookup: Film with our unique social giveaway technology, we have 5 pairs of movie passes plus signed posters up for grabs to “Patang” from Chicago director Prashant Bhargava!

Facets and HollywoodChicago.com are proud to show “Patang” with Chicago’s Prashant Bhargava in person for an encore, one-week-only special engagement from Aug. 24 through Aug. 30, 2012.

The 7 p.m. showing on Aug. 24 is followed by a Q&A with “Patang” director Prashant Bhargava, which will be moderated by HollywoodChicago.com’s Patrick McDonald. The 7 p.m. showings on Aug. 25 and Aug. 26 will feature a Q&A with Bhargava moderated by HollywoodChicago.com’s Matt Fagerholm. All “Patang” showings will take place at Facets Cinematheque at 1517 W. Fullerton Ave. in Chicago. The “Patang” showtimes for the week are:

1. Friday, Aug. 24 at 7 and 9 p.m.
2. Saturday, Aug. 25 at 3, 5, 7 and 9 p.m.
3. Sunday, Aug. 26 at 1, 3, 5 and 7 p.m.
4. Monday through Thursday, Aug. 27 to Aug. 30 at 7 and 9 p.m.

Here is the synopsis for “Patang”:

A poetic journey to the old city of Ahmedabad, “Patang” weaves together the stories of six people transformed by the energy of India’s largest kite festival.

Every year, a million kites fill the skies above Ahmedabad – dueling, soaring, tumbling and flying high. When a successful Delhi businessman takes his daughter on a surprise trip back to his childhood home for the festival, an entire family has to confront its own fractured past and fragile dreams.

With naturalistic performancess, bold and lyrical editing, vibrant cinematography and a kinetic score, “Patang” delights the senses and nourishes the spirit.

“Patang” celebrated its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival and its North American premiere in competition at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film was showcased to sold-out audiences at the Chicago International Film Festival and Roger Ebert’s Film Festival. “Patang” is the winner of the best feature narrative at the Hawaii International Film Festival, the best world narrative at the Indy Film Festival and the best feature narrative at the DC APA Film Festival.

The 95-minute film, which is written and directed by Prashant Bhargava and written by James Townsend, stars Seema Biswas, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sugandha Garg, Mukkund Shukla, Aakash Maheriya, Hamid Shaikh and Pannaben Soni. The film is in Hindi and English with English subtitles.
