“We Bought a Zoo” is a funny, inspiring and true story about the magical power of family to persevere in the face of extraordinary challenges. This is acclaimed filmmaker Cameron Crowe’s (“Jerry Maguire”) first motion picture for all audiences and stars Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson and Thomas Haden Church.

Damon portrays a single dad who – looking to give his family a much-needed fresh start – moves to a home situated in the middle of a zoo. Still in the works

We are in the process of overcoming the biggest family spat we have ever had in our family of over 15 aunts and uncles, over 30 cousins, and a few little ones. After our grandfather passed away everyone in the family began to fight and disagree. It came down to everyone separating and no one spends the holidays together anymore. Every year the holidays roll around it’s sad because instead of a house bustling with too many people, it’s just our small family of 4. Last year my brother and I had a cousins holiday party because we never see our cousins anymore because all of the adults are fighting! We are doing it again next week and I can’t wait to see everyone! This is how it should be- the holidays should be filled with love and family. We’re hoping that our example will spread to all of our parents and that eventually things will return to normal. Fingers crossed :)

Overcoming Family Challenge

The only family challenge we have overcome is my sister husband dieing suddenly over this Thanksgiving and having to explain to her children (who are 9, 7, and 6 years old) that there daddy is in Heaven and that He will not be home for Christmas. I remember the 9 year old saying “We are not going to have anything for Christmas.” I said “Yes you are. You are going to have a good Christmas.” She said “Daddy not going to be here and he said he was going to be here for Christmas. We prayed for him.” We all fought back tears as our hearts ached even more for them and the lost of our brother-in-law. I just stared at her with tears in my eyes. So we made sure that our sister and nieces had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a good Christmas.

Also, Since we overcame this challenge, I can now say that my sister, my nieces, and I have grown closer to the Lord. My sister father and mother-in-law has started going to my sister church and thinking about joining. Her landlord and even her bother-in-law. Has also started going to church. They said the way her pastor had ministered really touched their hearts. His preaching was nothing like the preaching they heard before.
