Here is the synopsis for “We Bought a Zoo”:

“We Bought a Zoo” is a funny, inspiring and true story about the magical power of family to persevere in the face of extraordinary challenges. This is acclaimed filmmaker Cameron Crowe’s (“Jerry Maguire”) first motion picture for all audiences and stars Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson and Thomas Haden Church.

Damon portrays a single dad who – looking to give his family a much-needed fresh start – moves to a home situated in the middle of a zoo. MY BIGGEST FAMILY CHALLENGE

MY BIGGEST FAMILY CHALLENGE WAS MY PARENTS MOVING IN WITH US AND BEING ABLE TO BLEND TWO FAMILIES IN ONE HOUSEHOLD WHILE STILL MAINTAINING TWO SEPARATE HOUSEHOLDS UNDER ONE ROOF.

We bought a zoo

My mom was so sick, she was on the verge to die and I was barely in high school when I had to try to cook and help at home with my younger sister while my father was taking my mother to doctors. Sometimes they would be in a hospital for days or out of town. But we survived and i’m glad that behind us.

In the end, we did it to ourselves.

My boyfriend/fiance and I don’t have kids (yet), or else I am sure what I’d list would be related to that. Otherwise, in our experience together the greatest challenge we’ve overcome was a challenge we took on willingly: to start a film company and make a feature length film in Chicago! It was incredibly difficult and stressful at times, but all challenges are or else they wouldn’t be so named. We shot the film Motivational Growth in 2010 and have been working on the post production of it all this year. It is so close to completion, and it really feels like the biggest thing I have ever taken on. A movie may not be a child, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t sometimes feels like one (and a spoiled one at that!).

Overcoming Family Challenges

Dealing with unexpected deaths and illnesses…you have to overcome and stay strong as a family in order to live this life

What’s the greatest family challenge you’ve overcome?

My grandfather passing away after a long bout with cancer. Watching him slowly become worse, was heartbreaking for the family. But with that time a lot of family that wasn’t close became a lot closer again because of all the time we spent together. When he passed we felt like a family again. So his passing reconnected the family.
