Here is the synopsis for “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”:

Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as the world’s most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, and Jude Law returns as his formidable colleague, Dr. Watson, in “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”.

Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room – until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large – Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris) – and not only is he Holmes’ intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil (coupled with a complete lack of conscience) may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective.

Holmes’ investigation into Moriarty’s plot becomes ever-more dangerous as it leads him and Watson out of London to France, Germany and finally Switzerland. But the cunning Moriarty is always one step ahead as he spins a web of death and destruction as a part of a greater plan that will change the course of history.

Filmmaker Guy Ritchie returned to direct “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,” which is the follow up to the smash hit “Sherlock Holmes”. The sequel also reunited producers Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey and Dan Lin. Bruce Berman and Steve Clark-Hall served as executive producers.

Jared Harris (TV’s “Mad Men,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) joins the cast as the notorious Professor Moriarty. In her first English-speaking role, Swedish actress Noomi Rapace (who gained international attention in the Swedish film “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”) plays Sim. Stephen Fry (“Alice in Wonderland,” “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”) is Mycroft Holmes (Sherlock’s older brother).

Additional cast members returning from the first film include Eddie Marsan as Inspector Lestrade; Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler; Kelly Reilly as Watson’s bride, Mary Morstan; and Geraldine James as Holmes’ long-suffering landlady, Mrs. Hudson. “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” is written by Michele Mulroney and Kieran Mulroney.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson were created by the late Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and appear in stories and novels by him. Ritchie again collaborated with the behind-the-scenes team from the first movie: director of photography Philippe Rousselot, production designer Sarah Greenwood, editor James Herbert, costume designer Jenny Beavan and composer Hans Zimmer.

Holmes was cleaver, adaptive

Holmes was cleaver, adaptive and inventive. He was able to revolutionize the way cases were investigated and see things that others would miss and do so with a style and finesse that is unmatched.

Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock is my favorite detective and the best because he’s eccentric, never give’s up,has a great observation skills, and he uses logic and analogy a lot. Sherlock lives to discovers mysteries. His job is a his passion.

What makes Sherlock Holmes history’s best detective?

I have always enjoyed Sherlock Holmes. I used to read his stories when I was a kid. I have always found the power of his deduction to be the most fascinating thing about him. He is very observant and is able to break down what he observes along with evidence and logically solve the crime. If only real detectives could think the way Holmes does more crimes would be solved.

Younow that he’s the best

Younow that he’s the best when you have agency’s like Scottland Yard and the AmericanGov., asking for his help. I am still watching the Classics now with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. His technics are being used in a lot of films today solving mystries.
