True.

No man, alien, Nazi or woman or God can stop him and he will fight until his fingernails are the dust surrounding the stars of Alpha Centauri.

When I think of adventurer is the only one that comes to mind. He’s such an iconic character that any other cinematic adventurer is just a copy of him. He changed the way people look at action heroes. He showed that they can be sexy, smart and funny, whereas, most of the other action heroes focus less on their brains and more on brawn.

ROTLA passes

It’s true, Indy is no doubt the most cinematic adventurer. Why? Because he’s a professor who gets to live out everyone’s dreams by outdoing Hitler’s fools and discovering the Ark of the Covenant first and then ultimately witnessing the power of it firsthand. Could you all imagine if Tom Selleck would have been available for the Indy part. The gods were watching on that one.

Indiana Jones

Indiana Jones is the model for which a lot of action heroes try to emulate to this day! He was an ordinary guy caught up in extraordinary adventures and never took himself too seriously!!

Indiana Jones the "Everyman"

Indiana Jones represents a different kind of action hero. By hearkening back to the protagonist from those black-and-white serials, At the time Raiders of the Lost Ark came out Indiana was made as the model for the future. Jones is as close to an “everyman” as you’re likely to find in an action movie. He’s tough, but not that tough; he has women problems; he wears natty, “lived-in” clothing; he doesn’t drink martinis, regardless of whether they’re shaken or stirred; he frequently gets bumped, beaten, and bruised; and he doesn’t have biceps like a Mr. Universe.

Having said that.

Indiana Jones broke the typical adventurer movie that follows the formulaic plot structure. Audiences are often asking themselves the question, “How’s he going to get out of this one?” compared to most adventurer movies… Raiders of the Lost Ark made them come across as sedate (cough 007 cough). Raiders transformed the action movie landscape. In the years that followed, nearly every action movie would try to generate the same sense of suspense and tension. Still to this day you cannot compare any movies to Indian Jones.

They may come out with a great “James Bond” series with lots of action (which lacks raw grittiness) or the “National Treasure” series with interesting search and adventure scenes (but lacks the pitfalls, traps, arrows, lethal spikes rolling boulders, etc.) But…Indiana Jones has the perfect blend of both…nothing to this day compares to Indian Jones.
