CHICAGO – It’s been a bad month for Christina Aguilera. February opened with her infamous flubbing of the lyrics to the National Anthem at the Super Bowl and March begins with the “Burlesque” star being arrested for public intoxication, according to TMZ.

According to reports, Christina Aguilera and Matthew Rutler (her latest beau) were arrested early this morning, Mar. 1, 2011. She was taken in for public intoxication and her boy toy took the fall for the more-serious charge of driving under the influence. He was driving around 2:45am when the cops pulled him over and he was arrested for a misdemanor DUI.

Apparently, the passenger in this incident, Christina Aguilera, couldn’t get away from being arrested herself as she was so intoxicated. Yes, you can be too drunk to ride in a car, especially if the cops get involved. TMZ reports that she was taken because she “was unable to care for herself.

Bail was set at $5,000 although it seems unlikely that charges will be pressed. A source told TMZ, “If the driver had NOT been arrested for DUI, [Christina] would have never been in trouble.” They still report that her friends have been trying to get Christina Aguilera into rehab for weeks, a move that seems more likely now with this publicity black eye.

Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears have been the subject of TMZ scandal for years but this is an unusual arrest for Christina Aguilera, especially with her latest movie, “Burlesque,” hitting Blu-ray and DVD on the very same day. Maybe she wanted to drink enough to forget she made it.
