Here is the plot description for “Countdown to Zero”:

“Countdown to Zero” traces the history of the atomic bomb from its origins to the present state of global affairs. Today, nine nations possess nuclear weapons capabilities with others racing to join them and the world is held in a delicate balance that could be shattered by an act of terrorism, failed diplomacy or a simple accident.

Written and directed by acclaimed documentarian Lucy Walker (“The Devil’s Playground,” “Blindsight”), the film features an array of important international statesmen including President Jimmy Carter, Mikhail Gorbachev, Pervez Musharraf and Tony Blair. It makes a compelling case for worldwide nuclear disarmament, which is an issue more topical than ever with the Obama administration working to revive this goal today.

The film was produced by Academy Award winner and current nominee Lawrence Bender (“Inglourious Basterds,” “An Inconvenient Truth”) and developed, financed and executive produced by Participant Media together with the World Security Institute. Participant collaborated with Magnolia on last year’s “Food, Inc.” (which was recently nominated for an Academy Award) and the upcoming “Casino Jack and the United States of Money”.

Jeff Skoll, Diane Weyermann, Bruce Blair and Matt Brown are the film’s executive producers.

Nuclear Disarmament

It is surprising wars are still going on in the world even when weapons of this magnitude exist. We should have a few around incase we need to defend the earth against an asteroid.

Nuclear Disarmament

I’m definitely for nuclear disarmament but it won’t happen in my lifetime. Once the horse is out the barn and it keeps galloping, it’s hard to reign it back in. As it is now, even the little guy can get ahold of nuclear material. It’s not held safely by countries IMO, even though countries state it’s safely stored.
Nuclear material should be used for energy purposes only.

Global Nuclear Disarmamnet

I’m for reducing the amount of nuclear weapons that countries have at their disposal. However I’m against a complete nuclear disarmament. The reason for this is because if you got rid of all your nuclear weapons, other countries might keep some, and then we would have no weapons to defend our selves. People are inheriently evil and can’t be trusted.

Nuclear Arms

I’m against a complete nuclear disarmament, but I’m for reducing the amount of weapons we do have. We need to make sure we have these weapons available to us, in case if we need to defend ourselves. How can we be sure that our enemies destroy all theirs.

Countdown to Zero - Argument Re: Nuclear Weapons

All Nuclear Weapons should be disarmed. It is too dangerous and a waste of resouces. More efforts need to made to promote and achieve world peace. (It won’t be easy.)

Countdown to Zero

The fact that any nation could one day resort to nuclear weapons is scary, and truthfully disturbing. If this issue is not solved now, within our lifetime, what will our future entail? We are one people, one tribe, all living on this place, this place called earth. Its time to realize the damage were doing, the hate we continue to spread, and the violence that only goes in circles. Its time to wake up, and make a change.

It is easier said than done. How do you make sure the terrorist and other countries do if we destroyed ours..We do have enemies who would like to see us destroyed. It is a hateful untrusting world
