Cacoon

I like stories that take you to a different reality. Are there other beings in this universe? What if we could live forever? It was a feel good movie. made ya think. :)

Apollo 13

I remember watching this film at a young age, and it always stayed with me. I never forgot the story or the characters.

BACKDRAFT

Because it was filmed in Chicago, and not all that many movies were filmed in Chicago at that time. But Chicago was the perfect setting in all its gritty realism, and kudos to Ron for using real Chicago firefighters in small roles, making it all the more authentic. It made Chicagoans very proud. The story was very true to form as to what firefighters go through in the line of duty. Kurt Russell is one of my favorite actors and he gave a magnificent performance. The interplay between Kurt and Billy Baldwin was also first-rate.

The Grinch… for bringing

The Grinch… for bringing one of my favorite christmas stories to life and bringing my family together every year for a traditional “grinch” night. It’s something we all look forward to every Christmas - it’s great family time with a new “classic”

Ron Howard Movies

I liked Backdraft—the heroism and action, the suspense were amazing.

Which Ron Howard film means the most to you and why?

I grew up loving films like Apollo 13 and Splash, but it was actually Frost/Nixon that made a lasting impression on me. I still remember how thoroughly engrossed I was by the pure intensity of the final interview scene. For those few minutes, I forgot I was sitting in a theater watching a film with actors; I had become wholly convinced that I was witnessing the conversation between the real Richard Nixon and David Frost. Along with the brilliant performances, Mr. Howard’s directing and incredible, tight editing still make me appreciate how the power of great film can create emotionally affecting moments that reshape the way many people view figures in our history. I am now a film student at USC (Mr. Howard’s school!) and was lucky enough to see both the film’s editor Dan Hanley and Mr. Howard speak about their work on Frost/Nixon, the significance of film in peoples’ lives, and what we as prospective filmmakers can do for the industry—firsthand advice that I’ll probably never forget.

Chi Love...

I guess I’m gonna go with the crown and say Backdraft on this one. Mostly because it’s one of the first movies I remember being in Chicago. And since Chi-town has a sentimental spot in my heart, so do most good movies that take place here…
