Blu-ray Review: Variety of FOX Dramas in ‘Bones,’ ‘Alcatraz,’ ‘Touch’

Alcatraz

CHICAGO – What do a multi-year procedural like “Bones,” a tragically canceled show like “Alcatraz,” and a struggling new show like “Touch” share other than the fact that you’ll find their most recent (or only) seasons the New Release shelf at your DVD & Blu-ray store? Not much other than the fact that all three are strong examples of how FOX has had difficulty finding an identity in recent years.

TV News: FOX Renews ‘Touch,’ Cancels ‘Alcatraz’

Touch (Cropped)

CHICAGO – Good news, bad news for fans of FOX dramas. To no one’s surprise, FOX has pulled the plug on their highly-promoted “Alcatraz” as ratings plummeted throughout the season. A little more surprisingly, they’ve decided to give “Touch” with Kiefer Sutherland more time to find an audience.

TV Feature: What Will Happen to Your Favorite Network Shows

CHICAGO – It’s that crazy time of year when network executives have to make the tough decisions. What do they cancel? What do they give another chance? What do they move? These are no small choices. Not only do they impact your favorite shows, but they can also determine the overall success of a network and lead to millions of dollars made or lost.

TV News: FOX Cancels ‘Terra Nova,’ Gives Hope to ‘Fringe’ Fans

Terra Nova

CHICAGOFOX continues to struggle to produce a new dramatic hit, announcing this week that the highly-promoted “Terra Nova” would not return for another season of dinosaur action. The cancellation combined with Monday night’s truly dismal ratings for “Alcatraz” has given some hope to “Fringe” fans. They can’t cancel everything, can they?

TV News: NBC Wins Monday Night With ‘The Voice,’ ‘Smash’

Smash

CHICAGONBC used the Super Bowl to launch their highly-promoted Super Monday and the gamble paid off as the troubled network won the night, beating a very competitive slate of programming on CBS and ABC. “The Voice” is a ratings beast and “Smash” was heavily sampled. Of course, whether or not “Smash” is a hit will be determined the further it gets away from the Super Bowl hype.

TV Review: J.J. Abrams’ Highly Anticipated ‘Alcatraz’ on FOX Needs Some Work

CHICAGO – There’s “potential” all over FOX’s highly-anticipated “Alcatraz,” debuting tonight, January 16th, 2012 with two back-to-back episodes. A great cast, strong production pedigree, interesting concept — so why are both of the first two episodes so forgettable? Why is this show more “meh” than amazing?

TV News: FOX Announces 2012 Mid-Season Schedule

Alcatraz

CHICAGOFOX just announced their premiere dates for the 2011-2012 midseason including exactly when to tune in for the return of “American Idol,” along with the highly-anticipated premieres of J.J. Abrams’ “Alcatraz,” new mystery “The Finder,” Kiefer Sutherland drama “Touch,” and the animated adaptation of “Napoleon Dynamite.” They also scheduled the return of two nearly-canceled shows — “Breaking In” and “Bob’s Burgers” — along with announcing that “I Hate My Teenage Daughter,” “Glee,” and “Bones” will be taking some time off in the winter, returning with new episodes in the spring.

TV News: FOX Announces Fall Schedule, Details New Series

CHICAGOFOX made their Fall schedule official this morning, putting to rest any lingering hope for fans of “The Chicago Code” (or the other four canceled bubble programs) and detailing what will air when.

TV News: FOX Cancels ‘The Chicago Code,’ ‘Lie to Me,’ ‘Human Target’

CHICAGO – For weeks now, we’ve been trying to predict what the networks would do with their bubble shows when they announced their fall schedules next week. Well, Kevin Reilly of FOX decided to burst all of the bubbles at his network under cover of night, as news broke very late last night that “The Chicago Code,” “Human Target,” “Lie To Me,” “Traffic Light,” and “Breaking In” will be absent from the upcoming 2011-12 schedule.
