Red Carpet: Peter Billingsley is Back in ‘A Christmas Story Christmas’

CHICAGO – The historic Cultural Center of Chicago got a early Christmas, hosting a screening of the new holiday film “A Christmas Story Christmas.” Story developer, producer and lead actor Peter Billingsley – reprising his role as Ralphie Parker from the original 1983 classic – walked the Red Carpet on November 15th, 2022.

In 1973, thirty years after the events of “A Christmas Story,” Ralphie returns to his former home in Hohman, Indiana (based on the Hammond, Indiana, hometown of source author Jean Shepard). With him is his wife Sandy (Erinn Hayes) and children, visiting his widowed mother (Julie Hagerty) after the passing of the Old Man (the late Darrin McGavin in flashback from the original film). Desiring to give his mother, wife and kids a Christmas the Old Man would be proud of, Ralphie soon realizes that the task is much more difficult than when he was a child.

Peter Billingsley is much more than the child actor he once was … he went on from “A Christmas Story” to many adult acting roles, including as William Ginter Riva in the Marvel Cinema Universe (“Iron Man,” “Spider-Man: Far From Home”). But his main role has been behind the camera as a producer (“Made,” “Elf,” “The Break-Up,” “Four Christmases”). He also directed “Couple’s Retreat.”
