Film News: Columbia College Filmmakers Present ‘Advanced Practicum,’ May 10, 2019

CHICAGO – The end of the 2019 academic year means graduation is nearing, and Chicago’s Columbia College – offering a curriculum that blends creative and media arts, liberal arts and business for nearly 7,000 students – is celebrating with their undergraduate “Advanced Practicum.” The short film program, which combines collaborative talent for directors, producers and post-production, is part of the day-long events of the college’s “Manifest Urban Arts Festival.” For more information about Advanced Practicum, click here. Five films will be shown – free and open to the public – which begin at 10:30am at the Film Row Cinema, 8th floor at 1104 South Wabash Avenue. They are “White Lilies’ (directed by Rebecca Saunders, produced by Jonthan Kaplin), “Starburst” (directed by Colin Leavitt, produced by Kennedy Starcevich), “The Sweet Pursuit” (directed by Ciaran Rooney-Cespedes, produced by Kendall Barachy), “Oasis” (directed by Christopher Rohrbeck, produced by Noah Bodner), and “Fear Frenzy” (directed by Nikki Milan Houston, produced by Grace Miller).

The “Manifest Urban Arts Festival” on May 10th, 2019, is an original street festival that celebrates the artistic talent and creativity of Columbia College students. Located in the heart of neighborhood known as the South Loop, it brings more than 80 showcases to the area, featuring film screenings, lectures, gallery exhibitions, performances, fashion, radio/television broadcasts and more. Also featuring two outdoor student stages, a kick-off parade and street performances, the day will culminate with a Manifest Headliner performance on the Mainstage for an exciting show. This festival is free and open to the public.
