Film News: 35th Chicago Latino Film Festival Closing Night with ‘El Reality’ on April 11, 2019

CHICAGO – The 35th edition of the Chicago Latino Film Festival (CLFF) is coming to a close, and their final night film is “El Reality” on April 11th, 2019, at the AMC River East 21 in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood. Director Rodrigo Triana, winner of the 2007 Chicago Latino Film Festival’s Audience Choice Award in for his comedy “A Ton of Luck,” returns with this hilarious satire of such reality talent shows as “The Voice” and “American Idol.” Born with a silver spoon, Camilo (Alejandro Gonzalez) discovers his passion for singing and pop music while studying abroad. However, it will be hard to convince his family that he wants to pursue a career in the music industry, so he and a friend concoct a scheme. In order to audition for Colombia’s most popular talent reality show, Camilo will pretend to be both blind and poor, plus he hires a humble and charming family to pass off as his own. But as he is about to find out, life is not a reality show.

The 35th Chicago Latino Film Festival (CLFF) took place from March 28th - April 11th, 2019, and featured over 100 feature-length and short films from Hispanic and Latino countries and the United States. The annual festival shows all of the films in their original language, with English subtitles where appropriate, and is one of the oldest Latino film fests in North America.
