CHICAGO – It’s reboot fever on the networks, and ABC-TV has jumped on the bandwagon in producing new episodes of “Roseanne.” The series, which originally ran from 1988 to 1997, features Roseanne Barr and John Goodman as a working class married couple. Portraying their daughter Becky, on and off, was Lecy Goranson.
The term “on and off” refers to the fact that two actresses portrayed Becky in the series first run, much like the two Darrins from the 1960s sitcom “Bewitched.” Lecy Goranson portrayed Becky for the first five seasons, left the show to go to college, and then came back in Season 8. Her replacement, Sarah Chalke, actually alternated with Goranson when she came back, and replaced her again in the infamous Season 9. Both Goranson and Chalke will appear in the reboot, but Chalke will be a different character.
Goranson appeared alongside “Roseanne” Executive Producer Bruce Helford at the 54th Chicago International Television Festival, previewing the show for attendees on Tuesday, March 20th, 2018. Photographer Joe Arce took these Exclusive Photos in anticipation of the premiere of the rebooted “Roseanne” on Tuesday, March 27th.
The Chicago International Television Festival evolved from the annual Film Festival into a separate international event in 2016, celebrating the best in television production, series, commercials and the innovative of online programming. Cinema/Chicago, the presenting organization of the Chicago International Film Festival and the Television Festival, is a non-profit cinema/TV arts and education organization. In addition to the annual festivals, the Cinema/Chicago programming includes the International Screenings Program, the CineYouth Festival, and the year-round Education Program. The 54th Chicago International Film Festival will take place October 11th-25th, 2018, and is North America’s longest-running competitive film festival.
