CHICAGO – The 2017 Blue Whiskey Independent Film Festival (BWIFF), a Chicagoland favorite for eight years, is hitting the big time by bringing the festival to the historic Music Box Theatre, in the City of Chicago proper for the first time. The Opening Night Film is “September Morning,” about a group of college kids bonding after the events of September 11th. The Opening Night short and feature films will be preceded by “The Blue Carpet,” and followed by an after party (details below). The BWIFF runs for eight days, through August 10th, 2017.
“September Morning” begins in the first dark hours of September 12th, 2001, as five college freshmen live through the events and aftermath of 9/11 in a dorm room. Far away from their families, friends, and everything they’ve ever known for the first time, they stay up all night sharing stories, telling jokes, and asking themselves ‘what will it be like tomorrow?’ Out of the embers of a national tragedy, lifelong friendships are forged.
The Blue Whiskey Independent Film Festival is not-for-profit organization based in the greater Chicagoland area, and have presented their annual film fest since 2010. The festival seeks out bold and innovative filmmakers that utilize story elements in a new and exciting way, presenting character-driven independent cinema that is fueled by the filmmaker’s passion for the art, without the large studio support.
