Film School Rejects [1] had this story four days ago, and now Variety [2] has the official announcement: Ellen Page will star in Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut, “Whip It!”

The screenplay was written by Shauna Cross, based on the semi-autobiographical YA novel Derby Girl, about roller derby girls in Austin, TX. (The aforementioned Film School Reject article is an interview with Cross.)
